Smell Memories

Living in Southern California where it hardly rains has advantages, but yesterday when we had a sudden small thunderstorm I was drawn back to my childhood in North Carolina. The smell of rain on hot pavement is something that stops me in my tracks every time. Driving home with the windows down to have the scent swirl around me made for a magical ride.
